Alexis de Chaunac's Breathtaking Exhibition Explores Life & Death

The works on exhibit in "A Dance with Life & Death" are all works on paper set against a backdrop of intuitions and insights gleaned from embryology, anthropology, mythology and medicine. Creating hybrid works grounded in his own quest for identity (which spans New York City, Mexico and Paris), Alexis de Chaunac searches out artifacts from different cultures for archetypal links between the personal and the historical. ART 3 is a dynamic contemporary art gallery located in the heart of Bushwick's vibrant art scene district.

The exhibition starts Wednesday, September 16, and runs until October 25, 2015. The opening is Wednesday, September 16, from 6-9 pm, ART 3 gallery, 109 Ingraham St, Bushwick, NY.

Created by Silas Shabelewska, formerly of Haunch of Venison NY and Helly Nahmad Gallery NY, in partnership with Monika Fabijanska, former Director of the Polish Cultural Institute in New York, the gallery focuses on works by emerging and mid-career artists. Senior level Gallery Director & Gallery Manager, Silas Shabelewska is the former AVP, Gallery Manager of Haunch of Venison NY and the Helly Nahmad Gallery. At Haunch, she worked on exhibitions featuring Gunther Uecker, Chiharu Shiota-Marlene Mocquet, Kevin Grancis Gray, Doug Argue, Ahmed Alsoudani. At Helly Nahmad, she produced numerous exhibitions including the acclaimed Soutine Bacon curated by Maurice Tuchman and Esti Dunow (2011).

Other exhibitions include: Alexander Calder, The Painter (2011), Dubuffet (2009), Gustave Moreau – Arman The Day After ( 2008), Picasso Bodegones (2008), Max Ernst (2007), Fernand Léger (2005). After 14 years of working for leading art galleries in New York, Shabelewska decided to create her own gallery: ART 3. Her experience has given her an extensive and varied network of connections, including top art world collectors and professionals, galleries, dealers, auctions houses, museums and artists. Shabelewska is trained in Art History with an emphasis in Modern and Contemporary Art. She has assisted clients in buying or selling works in the Secondary and Primary Market.
