Nature is the background for the picture of our existence. The relationship between the individual and the environment is fundamental. The goal of Land Art is to leave your mark... an imprint on the existing landscape.
A group of artists in the United States of America launched this new art form back in 1967. It quickly began to take root and be recognized as a discipline. But the term was coined in 1999 in Grindelwald, Switzerland, when the great master, Peter Hess experimented with and officially opened this new artistic path to the world of floral art.

His message is firm, loud and clear: only use natural materials found in loco. Since then, Peter Hess has given life to a real Land Art Festival involving the world’s finest floral designers in an annual competition that travels around the world.
The “VM Design” duo, Vincenzo Antonuccio and Marilena Calbini, have been Italy’s official representatives at the International Land Art Competition for years. The most recent edition was held in June 2013 at Grindelwald in Switzerland. VM of Italy made a great showing in the competition with fifteen artists from all over the world, (Holland, Spain, Russia, Siberia, Sweden, Norway, France, Switzerland, Canada, Taiwan, Hungary, Germany, Lithuania, and Poland), in fact, their entry LASCIATI BACIARE DALLA NATURA (Let Yourself be Kissed by Nature) was one of the most admired during the event.
“Lasciati baciare dalla Natura: this is the title we worked with. We chose it on the day we arrived and based our project on it. People don’t see or listen anymore, they can’t seem to let themselves go. Today, people are lost in the frenetic pace of daily routine; they are immersed in the ordinary that muffles reality.
“They are alienated and globalized in the name of unbridled consumerism, that puts ‘having’ before ‘being’ and they are unaware of what nature can convey. If we could only stop, look at nature and interpret it with a little more attention we would be able to understand the beauty, the emotions and the energy that can come from even just a simple walk in the woods”.
Skill, passion and sensitivity: these are the factors that allowed Italy’s representative to achieve success in an international competition.
