EYES IN™ Magazine Editor-in-Chief Vivian Van Dijk is LIVE at 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Vivian says, "It was great to meet film director Lee Tamahori and actor Adrien Brody who are working on the adventurous revenge tale 'Emperor.' It is such interesting timing to make a film about a fragmented empire in the 16th century while Europe at the moment is also looking to get into a fragmented situation. Director Lee Tamahori's says that he even draws inspiration upon the political chaos in Europe now while directing his fiction historical film about Europe. No doubt about it that this film with Lee Tamahori as a director and Adrien Brody playing Emperor Charles V, will make a big impact and will be a movie to look out for. The story-line is impressive and strong and the film will give us an amazing look into a past which will resonate in the future."
EYES IN™ Magazine will publish an interview with Adrien Brody in an upcoming edition.

Corsan today announced that Academy Award winning actor Adrien Brody (THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, THE PIANIST) has been cast in the title role of Lee Tamahori’s adventurous revenge tale EMPEROR. Brody will play the brilliant strategist Emperor Charles V, trying to hold together a fragmented Empire, in a 16th century world of wealth, debauchery, violent retaliations, sex, manipulation and treason.
EMPEROR is written by Michael Thomas III (THE DEVIL’S DOUBLE) and the script is adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher (THE DUCHESS) production begins in August 2014, with filming in both Czech Republic and Belgium. Corsan World Sales is handling sales on the project and Paradigm Talent Agency are supporting with casting.
Brody and Corsan have previously worked together on THIRD PERSON, directed by Paul Haggis and set for release this June from Sony Pictures Classics.
Adrien Brody says, "I have long admired Lee's work and a true fan since he blew me away with ONCE WERE WARRIORS. The gritty and complex nature of his films and the characters within them haunt me to this day. When Lee approached me to play the role of Charles V - a man with great power, and greater flaws - whose demons took his empire to the brink - I felt compelled to accept the challenge. I am also pleased to have the opportunity to work with Paul and Corsan again after the great, creative experience we shared together on third person."
Paul Breuls, Producer, Corsan said: "With Adrien and Lee Tamahori in place, we are attracting a very talented group of American and international actors, who we will announce shortly, for this sweeping film that will have world wide appeal."
Beginning as a commercial artist and photographer, he joined the New Zealand film industry in the late 1970s as a boom operator. He became an assistant director a decade later. Making international award-winning commercials for 10 years, he has also directed several TV series. His first feature film, 'Once Were Warriors' (1994), won the PEN First Book Award.
Working with mid- to big budgets, Corsan produces English language films covering a variety of genres to create strongly commercial films with worldwide appeal. Corsan qualifies for the Belgian Tax Shelter, leveraging it to raise its in-house film fund allowing full flexibility, independence and financial security.
