Once again EFP’s annual EUROPEAN SHOOTING STARS initiative has proved itself a highlight at the Berlinale, with a lavish Awards Ceremony to honour the best and brightest young acting talent in Europe, at the prestigious Berlinale Palast. The ceremony was held in the presence of industry figureheads and film fans alike, during the mid-point of the film festival’s 10-day program.
EYES IN Magazine Editor-in-Chief Vivian Van Dijk enjoyed the press conference from the 2014 European Shooting Stars at the Hotel de Rome in Berlin and she is happy to follow up with an interview with Danish actress Danica Curcic, Dutch actor Marwan Kenzari, and Norwegian actor Jakob Oftebro.

During a reception held Saturday night at the Tesiro Golden Bear Lounge, the ten performers from across Europe were welcomed by Richard Shen, President of Tesiro. He congratulated the actors and presented them with a spectacular jewelry keepsake, honoring their individual talents and their presence at the Berlinale.
This annual showcase of exceptional international acting talent, now in its 17th year, will once again introduce to the film industry at large an extraordinary range of up and coming performers at the start of their careers.
This year’s 10 stars come from all over Europe: Danica Curcic (Denmark), Maria Dragus (Germany), Miriam Karlkvist (Italy), Marwan Kenzari (The Netherlands), George MacKay (UK), Mateusz Kosciukiewicz (Poland), Cosmnia Stratan (Romania), Edda Magnason (Sweden), Jakob Oftebro (Norway) and Nikola Rakocevic (Serbia). All 10 actors bring with them an individuality and performance style which has earned them individual accolades at festivals around the world, as well as in their home countries.
The annual Berlin SHOOTING STARS showcase, which culminated in the Awards Ceremony, allows these actors to forge important relationships with industry professionals as well as the world’s media, on their journey to international success.
European Shooting Stars is financially supported by the MEDIA Program of the European Union (2007 – 2013), participating EFP member territories and additional media and promotional partners.
The Chinese jewelry company Tesiro is now in its fifth year of supporting European Film Promotion´s Shooting Stars initiative, moreover donating the prestigious Shooting Stars Award, which will be given to each of the ten selected actors and celebrates their outstanding artistic achievements to date, as well as their future endeavors. This Awards Ceremony will mark the climax of a weekend of activity for the Stars in Berlin and takes place on Monday 10th February at the Berlinale Palast.
