The powerful new television movie Perfect High held a premiere party and live-tweeting event hosted by Chelsea Briggs of Hollywire, featuring cast members Bella Thorne, Israel Broussard, Daniela Bobadilla, Ross Butler and Jasmine Sky Sarin. The event was live-streaming on Periscope from a private home in West Hollywood from 5pm-10pm PDT, surrounding the West Coast broadcast at 8pm. Throughout the event, the cast was live-tweeting and also took over Just Jared Jr.’s Instagram account.
The event made social media history, as it was Periscope's first official event “hosted” by an account, @bellathorne. Over 5,000 viewers tuned in as Chelsea Briggs of Hollywire interviewed the cast members. During the west coast broadcast, hashtag #PerfectHigh was trending #2 on Twitter in the US. Bella Throne brought her new boyfriend Gregg Sulkin to the party and they spent much of the time snuggling. Gregg was a sweetheart and praised Bella on Instagram saying, “In the last week I’ve watched Bella Thorne play the mean popular girl, a HBIC, & a misfit/lost teenager with a drug addiction… which has resulted in my mind being blown by her acting ability.
So proud again of her for her amazing and honest performance in Perfect High which premieres tonight! Go check it out!" Shortly after an intense scene in the film, Ross cheered up everyone by presenting a giant plate of cookies. During an interview with Chelsea Briggs of Hollywire, the cast admitted the "drugs" they snorted while filming was actually a mix of cocoa powder and lactose. So it turns out they did actually get high… Don’t worry folks, it was only a sugar high.
Perfect High Synopsis
Inspired by a true story. A star high-school dancer starts using prescription painkillers after a knee injury sidelines her. Feeling isolated, she is adopted by a popular group, which leads to sharing her pills, having regular “pharm” parties and falling in love for the first time. But when her prescription runs out, they resort to buying pills, only to have their lives forever changed when they discover their classmate dealer has been selling them heroin under the guise of being a cheap Mexican painkiller.
