EYES IN Magazine Editor-in-Chief Vivian Van Dijk was live at the Life Ball event in Vienna, Austria, created to draw attention to and raise funds for the fight against HIV and AIDS around the world. This year's theme was from David LaChappelle's creation, 'The Garden of Earthly Delights.'
Our Editor-in-Chief Vivian Van Dijk was pleasantly surprised by the amazing colorful, artistic, surrealistic, fantasy costumes she saw this weekend. In fact, Vivian was intrigued by the intricate headpieces and costumes of these guests, so she went to speak with the guests during the Life Ball festivities. The costumes turn out to be made by the costume designer of Angelina Jolie's 'Maleficent'!
Vivian was also happy to discover that top photographer creator David LaChapelle has been the theme composer of this year's ball. EYES IN has featured David LaChapelle several times on our website:
Vivian's reaction to the beautiful costumes:
"Most Life Ball attendees seemed to have followed up David LaChapelle's 'Garden of Earthly Delights' theme to the max. Wonderful outfits! I felt like walking in a living art exhibition in where each person is his or her own master art piece with complete with heartbeat, color and soul of love for being who they are and showing at the same time their support for the good cause which is fighting against the disease HIV and AIDS. Life Ball's founder Gery Keszler shows once more that in a dance of harmony and art a Viennese Ball can beat the demons this horrible disease."

David LaChapelle brings an entirely new perspective to this year's Life Ball making a strong reference to his career path. Following the motto 'The Garden of Earthly Delights,' LaChapelle transformed the backyard of his villa into an Eden-like universe, where love knows no gender segregation. The visual of the 2014 edition of Life Ball embodies the essence of David LaChapelle's art world. A visually appealing combination of trans-gender model Carmen Carrera, the celebrity factor wrapped in a surrealistic set in nature will continue to spread the love message on gallery walls all over the world. The original art piece "Once in a Garden" is exhibited until September 14 in the Viennese OstLicht Gallery in the David LaChapelle exhibition of the same title.
