Woven Tales: DICE KAYEK COUTURE SPRING 2016

One of Editor-in-Chief Vivian Van Dijks' favorite designers, Dice Kayek, has revealed the 2016 Couture Spring line! The new fashions from the Turkish designing sisters behind Dice Kayek debuted earlier this year.They describe their 'Woven Tales' collection as this: "From the couturier’s needle to the spindle of a weaving loom, hanging by a thread. From the conception of a collection to a fairy tale, hanging by a thread. A thread bound by a dream, where the destiny of the designer and the heroine are interwoven. Woven Tales is the story of this dream. A fantasy sewn of oddly familiar silhouettes, floating in a dreamlike surreal succession. Sometimes the spectral appearance of a troubling shadow, sometimes the royal splendour of a princely dress. Here, the gallantry of a gentleman in full dress; there, the strict elegance of an infantryman in military campaign. Woven Tales is the daydream of couture, a world of chiaroscuro with an ambiguous, poetical and metaphysical beauty... the beauty of a fairy tale."

About Dice Kayek

Established in 1992 in Paris and comprised of sisters Ece and Ayşe Ege, the brand Dice Kayek had its first fashion show at the Institut du Monde Arabe during Paris Fashion Week a year after opening. In 1994 it became a member of the Fédération Française de la Couture du Prêt-à-Porter des Couturiers et Créateurs de Mode and went on to launch multiple lines around the world, including the MITSUI&CO fashion division in Japan. Other works include the invitation by the French Pavillion Committee of Expo2000 Hannover, to design and exhibit a unique dress representing the region of Alsace002 Fashion show for BMW 7 Series’ official launch in Istanbul and the costume design for the video-opera Accents in Alsace, based on a play by Gertrude Stein, directed and adapted by Elizabeth Lennard for the Opéra Bobigny. In 2003 Ece Ege of Dice Kayek was awarded the Whirlpool Group with “Le trophée de la Femme En Or” for best fashion designer of the Year, and was elected by the Turkish Undersecretariat of the Prime Ministry for Foreign Trade as one of the Turkish designer brands to launch the TURQUALITY® branding programme.
