In his works Yang Yang tries to give a general impression by using a large variety of lines, colors and shapes.

Yang Yang's paintings are bought by many private and public art collectors. His work is exhibited in solo exhibitions in the Museum of Art in Shannxi, China in 2004. The Minneapolis Institute of Arts also presented his work. In Gallery 456, in New York, the gallery of the Chinese – American Art Council displayed a solo exhibition of Yang Yang.

Yang Yang makes figurative paintings and sculptures in unconventional shapes. Lui Qi Wei, curator of the Museum of Fine Art in Shannxi, describes Yang Yang's work as the combined quality of Oriental mystics with a tragic impact. The materials of Yang Yang's works vary from paper, canvas and sculptures in fiber glass, ceramics and bronze.
