Rock Ponytails this Season for the Perfect Look
As soon as the autumn/winter 2011-2012 shows got underway, it was clear that ponytails were going to be a key trend, with everyone from Guido Palau at Marc Jacobs to Paul Hanlon at Christopher Kane creating their own version of the classic look.
Now that the party season is approaching the ponytail offers a simple, chic alternative to fussy up-dos, with sleek equestrian styles at Costume National, Marc Jacobs and Givenchy making the perfect pairing for autumn/winter 2011-12's slinky jumpsuits and form-fitting dresses.
Alternatively the low-tied ponies at Alexander Wang and Burberry Prorsum provide a casual companion for chunky knits, whilst Gucci and Issa's voluminous styles ensure maximum impact whatever you're wearing.
Back to prove it's not just a one-season wonder, the sleek, slick pony was in evidence at Derek Lam, Dries Van Noten and Nicole Fahri, amongst others. Best worn at the nape of the neck with a section of hair tied around the top, it looks like the super-straight equestrian pony isn't going anywhere just yet.
