Eyes in Design: Installations from Kinetica Art Fair to preview exclusively at The ARC Show 2011
A preview of three light installations from Kinetica Art Fair 2011 will be featured exclusively at The ARC Show, from 12-13 January 2011 at the Business Design Centre, London.
These unique installations from Italy, Spain and South Korea will explore the interwoven complexities between scientific developments and the human condition though the convergence of art, science and technology.
The first installation comes from Ga Young Jun from South Korea, ‘Whistling Sea’ is inspired by the Jeju Sea. Jun's rhythmically arranged hanji paper emanates transparent sea colours and hues; ultramarine, peacock blue, yellow, green, pink, the colours of light seen through the eyes of impressionist painters. Jun strives to communicate not through an art that is understood but an art that is felt.
Carlo Bernardini through his optical fibre 'Light Works' will overcome the physical walls of space, pushing it to the limits of an illusionary dimension. His work combines the external environment with the internal one: “Permeable space”, the place where Light generates space.
Finally, Alex Posada will present ‘The Particle’, an installation inspired by the creation of the earth. His work translates the formation process of complex molecules into the language of light by experimenting with colour, sound and movement, creating a space for a sensory and kinaesthetic experience.
Tony Crinion, The ARC Show’s Event Director, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome installations from Kinetica Art Fair back to The ARC Show 2011. The four preview installations featured at the 2010 show brought a new dimension to the event, whilst perfectly complementing the surrounding exhibition stands.”
The ARC Show is the UK’s only trade event dedicated to showing the latest architectural lighting products. The event will take place from 12-13 January 2011 at the Business Design Centre, London. To register to attend the event for free, saving the £15 entry fee, visit www.thearcshow.com.
About Kinetica:
With the fast increasing advancement and development of a scientific and technological culture, it is only natural that many contemporary artists have crossed the plateau from 'fine art disciplines' into 'multi-disciplinary new media' with artworks that utilise and warp technology itself, to explore, nurture and comment on our evolutionary processes. Emerging from a cultural need to show-case and provide a platform for contemporary artists working in these new media, as well as to re-present significant pieces from our recent past, 'Kinetica' focuses on work that essentially makes suggestions and contributions towards human evolution including alternative insight and reaction to scientific and universal exploration.
The Kinetica Art Fair 2011 takes place from 3 - 6 February at Ambika P3 in London and is the UK's only Art Fair dedicated to kinetic, electronic, robotic, sound, light and time-based art; Art that has a life of its own. Talks, workshops, performances and more create an Art Fair like no other.
